Privacy
Six Hints is made to be played without an account. There are no adverts and no tracking cookies, and we never sell or share information about you. Here is everything we keep, where, and for how long.
On your device
Your passport, levels, badges, settings and the nickname you use in rooms are saved in your browser on this device, so you can pick up where you left off. They aren't cookies and they aren't sent to us unless you make a save code. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes them.
Save codes (only if you make one)
A save code keeps your game progress on our server so you can use it on other devices: which countries you've found and your scores. No name, no email, nothing else. Anyone who has your code can see and add to that progress, so keep it private, like a password.
- Codes that aren't used for over a year are deleted automatically.
- You can delete yours at any time: open Keep it safe with a save code (or See your save code) and choose Delete this code.
Playing
- Rounds. To keep the game fair, each round you play (which traveller, your guesses and the timing) is kept on our server and deleted a day later.
- Rooms. In a room, the nickname you choose and your answers are kept on our server while the room is open, so everyone can see the scores. A room is deleted once it has been quiet for 3 hours. Nicknames are checked for rude words, and there is no chat between players.
Counts
We count things like visits, how many games are played each day and how often each country is found, so we can see what's working and which hints are too hard. For a visit, we add one to the totals for the website that sent you (like google.com, if any), your country and whether you're on a phone. These are totals only: they are never linked to you or your device, and nothing else is kept. Which websites and countries visits came from is deleted after 30 days.
Messages you send
If you report a hint or send us an idea, we keep your message and the date so we can read it. We keep the newest 300 messages. Please don't put your name, email or anything personal in a message.
Your internet address
Six Hints runs on Cloudflare. Like any website, it receives your device's internet address when you visit, and Cloudflare keeps technical logs for a few days to run and protect the site. We use your address only to stop anyone sending us too many requests. Fonts and everything else on the site come from playsixhints.com itself, not from other companies. You can read Cloudflare's privacy policy.
